Product detailed description
From Zaza Mamulashvili and Bruale winery comes the Saperavi 2022, a Natural Dry Red from Kakheti, Georgia. The Saperavi grapes are grown in Bruale's vineyards in the Kvareli microzone of the Alazani valley. This area is characterized by fertile alluvial soil, average humidity, mild winters, and long, warm summers, with vineyards at an altitude of around 450 metres.
This wine is produced following the traditional Georgian Kakhetian Qvevri method. Once pressed, the Saperavi grapes ferment in underground clay Qvevri for 3 months in contact with their skins, seeds, and stems. Afterwards, the wine is transferred to another Qvevri and continues its aging process underground at a stable temperature of 12°C.
This 100% Saperavi is a dark ruby red wine, noted for its full-bodied structure and well-rounded tannins. It offers a rich and fresh taste profile, featuring flavours of forest fruit, pomegranate, dark plum, and blackcurrants. It is recommended to be served at room temperature and pairs excellently with meats, particularly game, and ripe cheese.
The winery's origins trace back to around 2010, when the founding Georgian-French partnership began. Located in Kakheti, Georgia, this Georgian-French venture blends traditional Qvevri winemaking techniques with classic methods, including oak barrel aging.
