Mtsvivani Kakhuri 2021 - Nareklishvili & Son's
Product detailed description
Mtsvivani Kakhuri from the Qvevri Wine Cellar winery is an exceptional wine from Georgia, representing a true return to traditional winemaking methods. This wine is crafted from the ancient Georgian grape variety Mtsvivani Kakhuri (Mtsvivani Kakheti). It is characterized by a golden, straw-like color, along with a rich and distinctive varietal aroma and flavor. The palate features subtle herbal notes and a delicate, harmonious taste of dried fruits, particularly figs. It boasts a high content of aromatic phenolic compounds, amino acids, and minerals, all of which contribute to the high antioxidant capacity of this Kakhetian Mtsvivani wine. This Georgian wine is fermented in traditional clay vessels called Qvevri.
Qvevri Wine Cellar, founded in 2015 by third-generation winemaker Ivane Nareklishvili, specializes in indigenous grape varieties and traditional Georgian winemaking methods. Combining a modern winemaking approach and strict quality control with minimal intervention, Nareklishvili is uniquely skilled at maximizing the potential of natural fermentation. By producing their wines from organic grapes in Qvevri, Nareklishvili achieves a clean, healthy fermentation that beautifully completes their amber (orange) wines. A tasting at Qvevri Wine Cellar reveals the exceptionally high-quality wines that can be crafted using native yeasts and ancient winemaking practices—resulting in wines with a distinct presence and structure, ripe fruit notes, and a mineral expression unique to Georgia.
